Bruce Roberts is a Pannist and Musician from Trinidad and Tobago. With more than 20 years experience to his credit, Bruce has been making his mark on the Trinidad and Tobago music circuit as a Tenor Pannist. Skilled in a range of genres from Soca to Calypso, Jazz and R&B, Bruce’s lyrical and flavourful playing always compliments his sense of style and showmanship.
Bruce is best known as the frontline soloist with local dance band Louis & the Lynx, led by Dr Louis Nurse. As a former member of the formidable Massy Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra, his musical prowess earned him ‘stage side’ honours for many years.
Bruce is a 2000 graduate of the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Musical Arts. He subsequently pursued a career as a music educator in the secondary school system and has also worked as a Project Coordinator for the Multicultural Music Programme Unit of the Ministry of Education.
Bruce’s extensive involvement in music as a performer and educator has also caused other industry professionals to sit up and take notice of his contributions over the years. In that regard, he continues to do insightful commentary for several leading radio and television channels, particularly during the Carnival season.
He functioned as adjudicator many national cultural competitions and events – most notably the National Calypso Monarch – senior and junior, International Soca Monarch – senior and junior, the National Junior Panorama and Junior Steelband Music Festival.
