In today’s video I will go over Criteria #8 for Narcissistic Personality Disorder according to the DSM-5: “Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her”. I will discuss why are narcissists envious and help answer the question “what is narcissist envy”. I will also discuss the difference between jealousy and envy, which are different but also interchanged in conversation. The narcissist jealousy game can be seen as the same thing as the narcissist making you jealous. This is just another way in which the narcissist contributes to toxic relationships as a way to get what they want. Why are narcissists so jealous? Because everything has to revolve around them. They need things to happen how they want them to, when they want it. Narcissists are so jealous of everything because it makes them think that someone else is getting the attention and not them. Why the narcissist tries to make you jealous is because they need to make you feel uncomfortable as a way to control and manipulate. What is narcissist envy and how is it different than jealousy? They are similar and interchanged with each other often. In the video I discuss the difference, but if you can understand narcissist jealousy then you can have a basic under standing of narcissist envy. Why are narcissists envious? Again, because they focus only on themselves and want what everyone else has, especially if it makes them appear high status. The narcissist making you jealous means they have lost control and want to regain control through manipulation, gaslighting, and other narcissist punishment tactics. Narcissistic Personality Disorder in someone makes it hard to feel safe and comfortable around them because they think only of themselves and no one else. Why do narcissists lie so much? To get the attention off of them and again to regain control.
