The Israeli police brought Yigal Amir, the self confessed
assassin of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, back to the scene of
crime on Thursday (16/11). The special force investigating the
murder staged the reenactment to get a clear picture of the
sequence of events that took place on November 4. Amid tight
security, a car similar to that of the murdered prime minister
drove up and Amir, wearing a white bulletproof vest, pulled a gun.
It was the same weapon that fired the fatal bullets. Bystanders
jeered and booed Amir when he produced the weapon. At the square, renamed Yitzhak Rabin square, candles still burn at the place where the prime minister collapsed.
