(28 Oct 2013) Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev began a three day official visit to Vietnam on Monday, with the aim of establishing a new strategic partnership.
Plevneliev was welcomed by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang with a guard of honour in the courtyard of the presidential palace in Hanoi.
After a bilateral meeting, Plevneliev and Sang signed 3 Memorandums of Understanding in science and technology, information and education.
Later in the day Plevneliev will meet Vietnam's Communist Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
On Tuesday Plevneliev will fly to the Vietnamese economic hub, Ho Chi Minh city with a business delegation.
Bulgaria has 30 (m) million US dollars of foreign direct investment projects in Vietnam, according to local media.
