Our review of the Canon Powershot SX40 HS.
6/10
The Canon Powershot SX40 HS is an interesting option for someone looking to start off their photography career without breaking the bank.
Though the SX40 is almost 4 years old, it still holds up when compared to newer iterations of the Powershot line. It provides a good middle ground between a classic point & shoot and an introductory DSLR. It provides manual settings as well decent automatic options for those who aren’t yet talented in photography. One of the most sought after options is the great zoom capability.
The main negatives aspects of this camera is the lack of the ability to shoot in raw without an after market software (CHDK) and poor low light performance.
Overall, this camera is a viable option for someone who is interested in getting starting in photography.
