(25 May 2016) Four Central European countries said on Wednesday they will be working on a plan to deploy their troops in the Baltics states as part of NATO forces.
In a declaration signed on Wednesday, the four said that their defence ministers will work out details of such plan to be presented at the forthcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, Poland, in July.
The troops from each of the four states should be available for rotational deployment, starting on January 1, 2017.
Their activities are to focus on training and exercises.
The four countries, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland, form an informal grouping known as the Visegrad Group.
The say they support an increased NATO presence in Eastern member states, Poland and the Baltics, that feel threatened by Russia.
