VISUAL COMMUNICATION
In this video Keyan Zandy and Joe Donarumo share why and how to bring visual communication tools to your jobsite. Visual communication is just what it sounds like - using visual aids to facilitate clear, efficient, and effective communication between all members of the construction team.
Keyan and Joe discuss (and show examples of) visual aids that can be used for your daily huddles, construction trailer, and even within the work areas of the jobsite.
For daily huddles and construction trailers, some ideas for visual content include:
- A materials delivery board
- A data vault, BIM, or smart TV
- Laminated floor plans and elevations
- A Site utilization plan
- Any parking or gate access maps
- A racetrack - or visual that shows the site by area or zone
For the work-related zones, some ideas include:
- Assign color coding to your trade partners to use throughout the job site.
- Color code your studs with spray paint for in-wall inspections to signal when work is complete and ready for inspection.
- Color code the staging/inventory area with tape for each trade partner to have a designated space.
- Create stencil templates for door openings that have all detail on swing, rating, etc.
