This rifle was a do-over project I originally started over 20 years ago but was not entirely satisfied with. I recently fitted a new laminated stock and had most of the metalwork refinished with Armoloy matte hard chrome. [text continues below]
I also made an extended bolt handle for it in my shop. It is fitted with a Redfield receiver sight mounted on the left side.
I'm shooting .32 H&R wadcutter loads using a chamber converter. This rifle is still chambered for the GP11 loading of the 7.5x55 Swiss cartridge. The pre- and post-cocking bit is to control the bolt throw and thus prevent ejecting my expensive chamber conversion sleeves across the range.
Apologies for the background noise -- this lane is right next to the opening for the ventilation system.
My tastes have changed in the intervening years -- I no longer alter old military rifles from original condition, beyond replacing worn or broken parts. 40-year-old me wasn't a collector, but 60-year-old me seems to have become one.
I really like the way this rifle looks and handles now, but it was also a fine rifle to begin with. I strongly recommend not doing this sort of project today. Leave the surviving old rifles in original condition and buy something new to customize!
