Learn about poet and author Ella Higginson from Western Washington University Professor Laura Laffrado. Ella Higginson was born in Council Grove, Kansas in 1862. She moved to New Whatcomb, later Bellingham, with her husband in 1888 -- where she would remain for the rest of her life. Higginson would go on to author award-winning fiction and numerous poems and essays set in the Pacific Northwest.
