1. Simone Biles
Simone Biles, 20, took the world by storm with her amazing performances in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and her goal is to return to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Given how well she performed two years ago, don't be surprised if it happens. As stated, Biles took the world by storm with her performance in the 2016 Summer Olympics. She earned a gold medal for her performance in the floor exercise, a gold medal for her performance on the vault, a gold medal in the all-around competition, and a bronze medal for her performance on the balance beam in addition to the gold medal she won as a member of the team.Biles also recently made an appearance as a cheerleader for the Houston Texans NFL team, proving that she can pretty much do it all and that she is more than ready to compete in the Olympics again if she attempts to make a return in 2020.
2. Morgan Hurd
Morgan's gymnastics career has already placed her on the short list of Olympic hopefuls, and if you doubt for even a second that she doesn't have the talent and dedication needed to make the team, you obviously don't know Morgan Hurd.
3. Ragan Smith
Ragan Smith, 17, has technically already been an Olympian despite the fact that she has never competed in the Olympics, as she was an alternate for the 2016 women's Olympic gymnastics team in Rio de Janeiro. In the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy competition in Jesolo, Italy, Smith placed second in the all-around competition, and she won the all-around title in the 2017 American Cup in Newark, New Jersey. In the 2017 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships in Anaheim, California, Smith won the all-around title as well.
She has won several other gold and silver medals in these and other competitions as well.Competing in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo is not at the front of Smith's mind at this point, but it remains a goal in the back of her head, which is right where it is for plenty of others right now with still more than two years to go until the opening ceremony.
4. Gabby Perea
Based solely off her third all-around finish at the 2016 P&G Championships in St. Louis, Perea would qualify to Tokyo 2020. She also took first on bars and fourth on beam at the competition, and was named to the U.S. Junior National Team. Perea trains at Legacy Elite Gymnastics.
5. Riley McCusker
Riley was added to the National Team for the first time following the Championships and will become a senior gymnast in 2017. With beautiful long lines and great flexibility combined with difficult routines, Riley will certainly be one to watch for the upcoming quadrennium as we look towards Tokyo in 2020.
