Keynote Lecture 2 - Mohamed Saleh: The Cotton Boom and Slavery in Nineteenth-Century Rural Egypt
Mohamed Saleh is an Assistant Professor of Economic History at the Toulouse School of Economics. His lecture on the cotton boom and it's impact on slavery in nineteenth-century rural Egypt took place at EBRD headquarters on 3rd of June 2016.
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is the topic of a two-day research symposium being held by the EBRD, the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the Economics of Transition journal on 2-3 June. It will take a stand-back look at some of the more intractable challenges facing the region.
