Old time Lat-Sau
Introduced to the majority of WingTsun students in 1988 / 1989 the Lat-Sau programs, developed by SiFu Kernspecht and several of his then master students, are still being taught and trained by many to close the gap between Chi-Sau and free fighting.
Based on SiFu Kernspecht’s early 80s training meet-ups with Jesse Glover, who transmitted valuable information on Bruce Lee’s own training and also fight behaviour.
Here a few variations of the third program at a #DasWingTsun seminar at WingChunOHZ.
- wedged punching inside and outside
- setting up the training partner, forcing him to specific responses
- explosive whole-body motion
- independent use of shoulder, elbow and wrist joints
- continuous forward motion of those joints
- actions often called ‘trapping’
- our training tools creatively named ‘hot stove’, ‘wet blanket’ and ‘funnelling’, to enforce - certain power generation and training of a fluid elastic force
- moving the body ‘behind’ the arms and the arms ‘in front’ of the body
- the ideas of a ‘crumble zone’ and a ‘weaponized shield’
Plus simply a lot of fun with the back-fist striking options.
Exaggerating movement. Getting comfortable with expressing yourself through movement. Then getting to the finer points of connected movement from fingertips to toes.
Enjoy your training.
Movement is the key, baby!
