Standing at 2291m in Altitude, Ngauruhoe is New Zealand’s third highest volcano. At only 2,500 years old this is one of the youngest and most active volcanos in New Zealand, it would erupt every 9 years, yet there hasn’t been an eruption since 1977. theres a certain thrill that foreshadows the very possibility Ngauruhoe could awaken once again.


Just 100 metres from the summit we would stop on a rocky outreach and perch up to get our awaited sunrise shots.


Overlooking Mt Tongariro, and blessed with near perfect conditions, we’d have the most amazing light spill through the clouds and create a picturesque atmosphere.
