It is a staple of science fiction, but researchers have revealed a real life tractor beam. The University of Adelaide says its tractor beam - or light-driven energy trap - works perfectly - with one small caveat. At the moment, unlike its Star Trek inspiration which can freeze or move entire ships, it can only move atoms.
