Since there is so much hand control and gripping in the sport, the hands, fingers, and wrist are subject to a lot of trauma and injuries. Many people will get sprain/strains within the hands and wrists but as a result of the intense gripping techniques, you may notice swelling and thickening of the hands. It is very important to understand the risks associated with any sport but also understand some of the injuries that are prone to the particular sport.
