This is the opening and closing sequence for the animated program "The Jackson 5ive", which aired on ABC's Saturday morning schedule from September 11, 1971 until October 14, 1972. Produced by animation studio Rankin/Bass Productions and Motown Productions, the show featured an animated, fictionalized version of the popular Motown recording group The Jackson Five.
The show was rerun in syndication for a time during the 1984-85 television season as the group's lead singer Michael Jackson experienced a major wave of popularity as a solo artist from his sixth studio album "Thriller" and a reunion tour with his brothers that year as well.
Due to high demands of the group at the time, the voices of the Jackson Five were portrayed by voice actors, though they did provide the show with music and live photographs that morphed intro the group's cartoon counterparts in the opening medley.
One of the voice actors, Edmund Sylvers, who voiced Marlon Jackson, would coincidentally become the lead singer of his own family group The Sylvers, who had hits in the mid-to-late Seventies with "Boogie Fever" and "Hot Line"
