I could see the eroded keel of the ammonite protruding out of the round nodule. I took the whole rock I found at low tide home for fossil preparation. The fossil ammonite is called Liparoceras sp., its a 180 million year old ammonite. It’s found at low tide along the Jurassic Coast the best time to look for fossils when you have a lot of the beach to look at. The ammonite was an ancient marine sea creature. I recommend wearing safety spectacles and sturdy gloves when using a geological hammer. I go fossil hunting at low tide for these little fossils, i stay away from the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning. My YouTube channel @Lyme Regis Fossils has some longer fossil hunting videos on it. I called my channel "Lyme Regis Fossils" on YouTube. Its a geologists dream to live and work in a place where the earth`s history is being revealed every day.
