Strings and Tango
A project funded by the European Union and the Goethe Institute
"Strings and Armadillo” is a musical project springing off the creative cooperation between the Italian duo Les Violons d’Ingres, composed by the violinists Claudia Cancellotti and Erica Scherl, and Diego Jascalevich, Argentinian composer and virtuoso of charango (traditional Andean lute) based in Kassel, Germany. The ensemble aims at realizing an original fusion of the elegant sonorities of classic chamber music with the rhythmic and lyrical expressions of contemporary tango and of Latin American popular music at large.
In April 2024 the duo Les Violons d’Ingres was awarded a Mobility Grant by the Creative Europe program CULTURE MOVES EUROPE, funded by the European Union and the Goethe Institute. The grant enabled Les Violons d’Ingres to travel to Kassel and carry out seven days of intense artistic and creative work with Diego Jascalevich and with other Argentinian and German musicians, amongst which the Argentinian piano soloist and composer Mirta Perez and the guitarist and singer Pablo Cardozo, and the German amateur flamenco guitarist and percussionist Annike Rink.
This exciting and productive experience will continue in August in Italy, with a two weeks residency of Diego Jascalevich in Scansano, Maremma, and the premier presentation of the new concert program, enhanced by the cello of Michele Lanzini, to the Italian audience.
Les Violons d’Ingres wish to thank all the people that helped to make it happen and enriched their stay d Kassel and to all the artists and musicians that shared their musical skills, knowledge and creativity with them during their stay, enriching the project Strings & Tango and contributing to the advancement of a new musical adventure, at tango pace!
In particular we wish to thank:
Diego Jascalevich, Sandra Bauer and Federico Bauer Jascalevich
Mirta Perez
Pablo Brotzman and Pablo Cardozo
Annike Rink and the amateur tango orchestra of Kassel
