Botox was first given to reduce a condition called as diplopia or double vision. It was discovered incidentally by an ophthalmologist and incidentally found that wrinkles round the eyes would reduce when injecting the botox. Later as botox has been used for several decades it has been discovered that there are other properties. Botox can reduce pores, sweating, it has been tried in scar treatment it has been tied in the treatment of androgenic alopecia or hair loss and there have been successful reports in most of the diseases that botox has been used for however since we have much more cost effective solution to treat hair loss, we don’t recommend botox for the treatment of hair loss or androgenic alopecia. We have other injections like PRP , we have procedures like hair transplant, we have non surgical procedures like low level light therapy. The gold standard treatment for hair loss is much more cost effective that injection of botox for the same.
