In this video, Dr. Patsy Kelso of the Vermont Department of Health discusses the history of Vermont's MDRO Collaborative. The Collaborative is an innovative initiative involving each of Vermont's acute care facilities, most of Vermont's long term care facilities that have skilled nursing beds, and an acute care hospital in New Hampshire. The Collaborative uses strategies such as increased communication between healthcare facilities, infection prevention initiatives, and electronic surveillance to prevent the transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms. New staff will find this video useful as they become involved in the work of the Collaborative.
