In early January, I received a letter from Be The Match, a non profit organization involved with the National Bone Marrow Registry, stating I was a potential match for a person with cancer.
Flash forward a few months, and I went through the process of self injections with Filgrastim and ultimately donated peripheral blood stem cells for my matched patient. In this vlog, I detail everything of the process, all the way from getting the letter, doing self injections, donating, and post donation feels. I share my experience in all honesty, hoping to dispel some worries about the process itself while encouraging others to join the registry. There were some tough moments I wanted to share as well. It's not a completely painless process, but it's worth potentially saving the life of a fellow human being.
