Zagreb is the capital of the Republic of Croatia, an old Central European town. For centuries it has been a focal point of culture and science, and now of commerce and industry as well. It lies on the intersection of important routes between the Adriatic coast and Central Europe.
Zagreb's main station Glavni Kolodvor is the central railway station in Zagreb and the largest railway station in Croatia. It is located in the center of Zagreb, on King Tomislav Square. The construction of the building was started in 1890 and it was officially opened in 1892 .. The project for the building was made by Hungarian architect Ferenc Pfaff.
There are several trains per day connecting Zagreb with the major cities of Rijeka, Osijek and Split, plus regular local services from towns in the surrounding region.Daily international services arrive from Ljubljana (Slovenia), Venice (Italy), Budapest (Hungary), Munich (Germany), Vienna (Austria) and Belgrade (Serbia).
