At the meeting on June 14, Lukashenka told how much money the officials, whom he himself appoints to high positions, steal. In Belarus, the dictator personally approves all appointments to responsible positions. So his appointees steal millions.
"Cash in the amount of more than three million two hundred thousand dollars was seized in caches in the apartment and country house of the defendant," said Lukashenko. Such a sum was found at the first deputy head of the Belarusian Railroad, which belongs to the state.
One can only guess about the scale of theft of Lukashenko and his family. And there is no doubt that they steal - it has been proved by independent investigative journalists more than once. Nepotism, theft and corruption are the basis of the whole vertical of power built in Belarus during 30 years of Lukashenko's rule.
