A fierce bout of fighting in Kosovo has left five Serb policemen wounded, prompting fears of an upsurge of violence in the troubled province.
APTN filmed exclusive coverage of the fighting in the town of Bukos, with guerrilla fighters from the Kosovo Liberation Army firing on Yugoslav police and soldiers in the town.
The violence began early on Tuesday as Serb mourners gathered at the home of Mirko Milosevic, a civilian killed on Monday by the K-L-A.
The K-L-A rebels sprayed the house with bullets, trapping mourners and their police escort inside.
When the siege ended, police summoned reinforcements and returned the rebels' fire.
The clashes continued well into the afternoon, putting hopes of a lasting peace in doubt.
The fighting added to the gloom left by the failure of international negotiators to pressure Serbs and Kosovo Albanians to agree to a peace plan at Rambouillet, France.
Contact Group officials said the ethnic Albanians had pledged to sign the peace plan within two weeks.
But the lack of immediate commitment from both sides to stop the violence increased the prospects of more bloodshed in coming weeks.
