Opened back in the 1800s, Bolton's Market Place is hardly a typical dead mall. As a Grade II listed building, it combines mall aesthetics with architectural details left over from days gone by.

Market Place lost Debenhams, its main anchor, in 2021 and The Light cinema has been closed for much of the pandemic. As a result, it feels like the place is struggling.
