''I just have no words to describe the situation. If there is work available then we peasants can survive, but if there isn't we just sit around. Planting and harvesting is very difficult at the moment. Petrol is exorbitant. We live with great difficulty. The people have run out of patience and this is why they rebelled.''

STORYLINE:
As Kyrgystan's interim prime minister Kurmanbek Bakiyev attempts to bring stability into the lawless capital of Bishkek, many locals in the country's poor rural areas remain sceptical that a change in government will do much to improve their lives.
The village of Strelnikovo in the south of Kyrgyzstan, is one such area - crippled by endemic poverty and unemployment.
Tabuyldy Bayboldzhoyev, unemployed, said if there was work then the peasants could survive "but if not it becomes very difficult to cope.''
"The people have run out of patience and this is why they rebelled,'' Bayboldzhoyev said.
The tumultuous political events of the last few days in Bishkek have given hope to many, but the opposition will need to act quickly to satisfy the demands of the protestors and the desperate needs of the rural communities.
On Friday, Bakiyev emerged from the Parliament building in Bishkek and said he had been named Kyrgyzstan's acting leader.
Bakiyev's appointment as acting president was endorsed by a newly restored parliament of lawmakers who held seats before the elections, which fuelled protests against long time leader Akayev and his government.
Bakiyev has named four acting key ministers and a chief prosecutor, choosing mostly prominent opposition figures for the posts of foreign, defence and finance ministers and chief prosecutor.
