In this video we introduce the concept of "part-writing," or composing music in a 4-part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choral style where each voice follows a pleasing, singable linear path (voice leading) while vertical aggregates of notes (chords) adhere to vocal ranges and common practice doublings, spacing, etc. When this practice is followed, most of the music will look similar to typical church hymns.
Although the video refers to specific examples found in a standard harmony text, what is presented here may be applied universally.
