If all of the troubles we might have with orchids sometimes are not enough, here's another one to add to the list: Fusarium Wilt infections. I just found a Cattleya with this disease, let's see how we can detect it.

First off Fusarium is a fungal infection that affects orchids among other plants. More about it here [ Ссылка ]
On orchids it affects the moisture flow through the rhizomes or other organs. leading to sensitive orchids that will not perform well. In Cattleyas and other rhizome species it also visually appears as a purple ring surrounding the rhizome. More about it here if you scroll down [ Ссылка ] Keep in mind, even Phalaenopsis can get this infection and, as it appears, improper moisture levels can favor it (if you are using the water culture method you might want to be extra careful with this and at least maintain proper hygiene of the water, so that pathogens don't accumulate and breed in water).

As for my Cattleya orchid, she never did well for me. Roots are very sensitive, leaves appear to easily develop spots and fungal infections and overall she is not performing well compared to my other orchids.
We need to be vigilent when it comes to maintain proper hygiene and always remember to sterilize cutting tools well, don't share or splash water and just be careful with pest infestations.
Some plants can live with this disease, but they might just not perform very well, depending on how bad the infection is, if it is just a beginning or if the plant is more sensitive or stressed.
