When it comes to sizes for emeralds, the price per carat can increase significantly as the gem size increases. For example, a 1 carat emerald stone may cost $800 while a 4 carat emerald in the same may cost $3000+. This is due to the larger the emerald the more rare it is plus if it has good quality as the average carat weight is around 1-2 carats.
Not only are larger stones more valuable, but emerale cut in stock sizes (known in the trade as calibrated sizes), also tend to be more pricey. This is because more material has to be removed during the faceting process to achieve these calibrated proportions.
