This is to show what a smaller mid size tube will do vs its big brothers. This mid size is rated at 17.5 watts plate dissipation (as most mid sized are). Most full size tubes are rated at 30 watts. I have had some discussions, especially on Facebook where some people say they get the smaller tubes and only lose a few watts output. I said poppycock. They rate the watts for those tubes for a reason. Common sense also says you can look at the tube and see that there is a difference. However, many people when faced with facts, like to bring up a CB legend named Nomad. They say well Nomad recommended it. I say fine, they will dead key the same, but the smaller tubes have less headroom and the audio output or top end watts are going to be less. Many don't care as all they care about is dead key watts. I am not in that camp. I want full open swing (100% fully modulated carrier for you word police guys).
