Throughout the Second World War, there were many people who collaborated with the Germans or the Nazis. Some women even slept with them, but in the Soviet Union the Germans caused chaos and horror wherever they went. They would commit scores of atrocities executing large swathes of the civilian population, and they also razed settlements to the ground burning them to the ground. So for someone to collaborate with them in the Soviet Union was considered disgraceful. But there was a series of executions in 1943 in Krasnodar in which 8 men were executed on a gallows inside of the city centre.

These men had helped cover the remains of those who were executed by the Nazi death squads, and this was deemed to be collaborating and they aided with the executions. But on the gallows in front of a huge crowd of thousands, these men were executed and they were considered traitors that had betrayed Stalin.
