For average height men, the standard tartan cloth coming out of the mills of Scotland will be wide enough to allow for good draping of the Feileadh Mòr - the Great Kilt. That is to say, you should have enough width to wrap the kilt and have it cover from navel to knees.
However, for gents over 6', every inch can count. While we admit this is level of precision that the old Highlanders of the 17th and 18th centuries probably never thought of, today it can matter. We deal with mass produced cloth made on industrial looms, after all.
How can you be sure you have a good width to work with? Can you insure that the cloth you purchase will be exactly 60" wide? Or as close as possible?
We offer the basic facts. And as Rocky says, as a company we are happy to assist in finding the best cloth for your needs.
