This is sixth of the 12 Episodes covering three extensive and consecutive explorations in the rarely visited and documented valley of Janhavi or Jadh Ganga. With this expedition the Jadung Valley was documented for the first time in mountaineering literature
The episodes 5-8 cover the exploration of the Jadung Gad valley - the central watershed of Janhavi aligned on a roughly North-South orientation out of three such valleys. The Janhavi expedition of 2013 explored the route ahead of the ancient Jadh village of Jadung and documented the valley for the first time in mountaineering literature.
This episode covers the darshan of the blue lake of Janak Taal ..said to be the place where Rishi Janhu had his Ashram after whom the river is named Janhavi in ancient texts. The team then proceeds up the feeding glacier which is almost dead and names it as Janak Glacier bearing the name of the holy Taal it creates. The arduous climb over rock and snow finally gets us to the Nakurche ABC area where we see the near uncrossable Nakurche South Col. Our minds begin to have doubt about possible crossover to Chor Gaad valley.
This expedition concluded abruptly and miraculously, hours before the deadly disaster of 2013 struck the valleys of Ganga in 2013.
