Hello fellow Audi S3 Fanatics! Have you recently developed some cylinder misfires? Are you running higher boost? You might want to change out your plugs and coilpacks. That’s today’s DIY: a popular upgrade are the RS7 spark plugs and the RS3 coilpacks.
The idea behind running the RS7 spark plugs is to reduce the likelihood of cylinder detonation due to them being a “colder” plug. You’ll also want to run a smaller gap. The RS7 plugs came pregapped @ .026in. Using APR’s recommendation, I regapped them to .024in while running them in conjunction with the RS3 coilpacks.
Depending on your vehicle, this swap could be an easy task or it could be a challenging project like mine. What happens in some circumstances, the coilpack boot ends up sticking to the spark plug. This makes removing them very difficult. You’ll see in the video what I am referring to.
