Feel the connection to country at the Desert Dreaming Centre, in the heart of the Outback in Barcaldine. The Desert Dreaming Centre was created by Cheryl Thompson, locally born and bred, and an important part of the Desert Mob and Desert Dwellers of the Outback. Cheryl and the Dreamtime Guides deliver many transformational experiences, from entry level art workshops to sharing rituals over dinner and stories through indigenous dance.
Learn stories and indigenous culinary practices from the Dreamtime Guides as you dig into bush tucker with finger limes and naturally-sourced items.
Take the bush tucker learnings further with Cheryl in an art workshop where you use bush tucker foods as the inspiration for your own indigenous-style painting.
After sunset, take part in the Dreaming Dinner, where you first watch the Desert Dust Dancers (all local and indigenous children) share stories, songs and dances. They invite you to take part to feel connected to country and be a part of it.
