Derma roller is a basically a device that has multiple needles in it which is rolled on a particular area of the skin or the scalp to promote a micro injury or a controlled injury to the skin which increases collagen formation which increases micro circulation and brings a lot of growth factors to the area. So there is a stimulation of new skin or a stimulation of new hair growth. Yes definitely, derma roller is one of the techniques we use to stimulate hair growth in the scalp which has lost its natural hair growth. It increases the micro circulation to the area, it increases we recommend that you use the derma roller once in a week over the affected area for about five minutes and after that you clean the derma roller with the shampoo and hot water, dry it, air dry it and then keep it back in its box. A derma roller of at least one millimeter size has to be used. Six to eight weeks treatment of derma roller, it is going to become blunt. So you have to replace the derma roller every six to eight weeks. The other concern here is using too much pressure especially if you are doing it by yourself and you do not gauge the pressure correctly you could increase the amount of scarring on the scalp. So it is always better that you learn how to do the derma roller with the dermatologist so they can teach you the correct pressure to be used and then you can follow it up with self-treatment at home.
