Hi Friends!
Welcome back.
How is it already September. Are you ready for fall content or should I keep rolling through my summer vlogs.... have about 3 more I think.
Today I decided not to sit around and wait for someone to explore with. I packed up my dog Fitz and off we went to explore a part of Nova Scotia's South Shore. I had the best day. I enjoyed the sun, pushed myself a little and balanced it all out with some meal prep and a good swim in the lake. The views from Bear Cove were stunning. Finding this spot was super easy and once we arrived we were greeted by no one. This beautiful spot was empty. Fitz and I roamed around, danced a little and took in all of the stunning views all on our own! Matt and I love to do as much as we can together and I never want him to miss out on anything and I always want to share any new experiences with him. That being said I am NOT usually motivated to adventure alone. Today though.... something compelled me to just go. Not to over think it and just go! I am so glad that I did. I enjoyed the quiet and in a small way I was proud of myself!
Hope the week is treating you well! This empty nester gets lonely at times here in Nova Scotia and I think what keeps my mood and my mind on track is getting outside. I will say in many many ways being an empty nester is a bit easier from here. Back in Ontario when my kids lived close to us I had a very hard time adjusting to my kids being strong independent adults. I found myself depressed and lost when I should have been feeling proud. They have been my entire life since I was a teenager. I wouldn't change a thing for a second. But I am glad that Matt and I are taking some time for ourselves. My mind is clearing with some things while others are foggier than ever. One thing I know for sure is that I am not taking time for granted. We have one life and while it isn't always easy deciding how you want to spend your time...at some point you just have to decide. Every decision has a consequence. Trying to balance that isn't easy but I think we all try our best. Does that make sense?
