Lian Xiaoyin is a performer with the Leishan Miao Music and Dance Group and a student of the ancient art of batik dyeing. At the 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival she talked about the process of learning batik, while her teacher, master dyer Yang Wenbin, discusses the importance of keeping traditional arts alive.
