Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived on Friday (September 16) at the second day of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ahead of meetings with SCO heads of state including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The SCO summit, taking place in the ancient Silk Road city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, also brought together leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Putin is expected to have separate meetings on the sidelines of the summit with leaders of countries with SCO observer and dialogue partner status, including with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
