Iran has claimed it shot down a US drone that strayed over its airspace. A senior Iranian military claimed in Iran's state-run media that the RQ-170 Sentinel drone was taken down by Iran's army with the help of its electronic warfare unit. He added that the largely undamaged drone was now in the possession of Iranian forces. In response, a US official said the drone may be one that operators "lost control" of last week while on a mission over western Afghanistan.
