Founded in the high desert of Provo, Utah but currently based in Los Angeles, The Moth & The Flame – singer/guitarist Brandon Robbins, keyboardist/vocalist Mark Garbett, and former Imagine Dragons drummer Andrew Tolman – arrived in 2011 and quickly earned devoted fans and critical acclaim for their brand of lush, atmospheric rock. NPR’s “All Songs Considered” hailed the band’s creative intertwining of compelling music and strong visuals. NYLON praised the band’s 2013 “&,” describing it as “a layered, complex collection of rock songs that probably has Chris Martin wishing he came up with them himself.” UK’s The Guardian proclaimed the aforementioned “Sorry” to be “as brilliant as Flaming Lips, by which we mean it has the brightness, the sheer surface dazzle, of the Lips' best music.”
About A-Sides with Jon Chattman:
Jon Chattman’s music series features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles — just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change.
