We rely on biodiversity for everything from food and medicine to climate resilience. Yet, biodiversity is declining faster than at any time in human history. 1 million plant and animal species are threatened with extinction and 90% of land-use-related biodiversity loss is caused by the extraction and processing of natural resources.
There are four principles to turn biodiversity loss into biodiversity value through the natural resource management approach:
- Know your true impact - Value-chain transparency
- Plan together - Integrated landscape planning
- Grow with nature - Nature-based and circular solutions
- Value nature - Recognize nature’s benefits
