Just trying to help someone out who might have a problem with their car not Starting due to the ford PATS anti theft system. So basically i have a 2002 ford explorer sport. I tried starting it one morning and got nothing no revving just nothing only windows and lights.. on the dash was a fast blinking "theft" light after turning the key over... after scouring multiple forums and hours of Google searching I came to the conclusion that it was the anti theft system and tried out the cheapest problem first.. enter "the transceiver" aka halo. It's pretty much just a middle man for the computer and the key. It's just an antenna that picks up the keys signal and relays it to the computer. the The transceiver should be the first thing you check it's easy and simple to replace and is usually the culprit according to multiple lock smiths and mechanics I've talked to. i was also having the problem of figuring out if it needed to be programmed or not. half the people I talked to said yes and the other half said no. From me doing this bassicly on my own i can tell you it DOES NOT need to be programmed don't let anyone tell you otherwise.. this is assuming your keys transponder chip and the computer is ok... any way Good luck!
