Short documentary about the Love Canal Superfund Site. A chemical company dumped over 20,000 tons of toxic waste into Love Canal, including well-known carcinogens like benzene and dioxin. Years later, the Niagara Falls School Board bought the property and built an elementary school on the dump -- then sold the remaining land to developers, who built a neighborhood. Residents became sick, and had to fight New York, the federal government, and the EPA (holding EPA representatives hostage at one point), in order to evacuate and clean up the site -- ultimately leading to the creation of Superfund.
