Thor's Well is located in the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area near Yachats, Oregon. Known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, Thor's Well is a hole in the rock that appears to drain water from the ocean. It’s a seemingly bottomless hole that thrashes and sprays water as the waves crash in and out.
To the left of the well is a small overpass bridge, and just beneath the bridge is another wonder of nature, Spouting Horn in the Cook Chasm. There is a gorgeous view of an ocean blowhole where the waves crash in the cave, which then spouts the seawater right back out, spraying into the air.
The site is most spectacular at high tide, or during storms when water washes violently over the rocks and funnels into the hole. The place is beautiful but also very dangerous, as you walk on jagged and slippery volcanic rock where the waves are crashing and the tides are constantly changing.
