Family shapes everything, from our humour, our habits, and our interests. They also play a big part in shaping our health.
Sometimes, family history provides clues to your own risk of developing breast cancer. If you have a mother, sister, or daughter diagnosed with breast cancer, or a father or brother diagnosed with prostate or breast cancer, your risk of developing breast cancer may be higher.
This month, I'm partnering with Susan G. Komen in a Know Your History, Know Your
Risk campaign. And now is the perfect time to take a moment to talk with your family about
their health.
Visit Susan G. Komen at komen.org/knowyourhistory to learn more. There, the breast cancer family history link offers a list of helpful questions to get your conversation going.
FYI • Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women
