I’ve returned to Betchworth in The Surrey Hills for a wander around the large Lime Kiln at the former Betchworth Quarry which is now a Nature Reserve that’s Managed by The Surrey Wildlife Trust. I then make a return visit to one of my Favourite Ruins and Betchworth Castle. The Castle is a fortified Medieval Stone House that was originally built in 1379 and rebuilt in 1448 before falling into disrepair after been acquired for The Deepdene Estate in the 19th Century. It was sold in 2008 by Mole Valley Council (who owned the Castle) for £1 to local man Martin Higgins and is now part of The Deepdene Trail.
