Nearly 9,000 workers from the Liquour Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) have gone on strike. It's a historical first ever for the crown corporation, and comes as thousands of disgruntled employees push back against Premier Doug Ford's plan to accelerate a plan that would allow convenience stores to sell alcohol. As of Aug. 1, grocery stores that sell wine and beer will be able to offer ready-to-drink spirits, and come September, so will convenience stores — but that begs the question: What's going to happen to the LCBO?
