Pakoštane is a small Dalmatian town located in the middle part of the Croatian Adriatic coast. It is surrounded by both Adriatic sea (Jadransko more) and Vrana Lake (Vransko jezero) - the largest lake in Croatia. Vrana Lake is a protected area because of its outstanding scientific and ecological value as it is an area of high biodiversity and is an almost untouched natural habitat of many species of birds. Other than this unique placement right between the sea and the lake, another one of Pakoštane's main assets is its convenient location between the larger coastal towns of Zadar and Šibenik as well as its proximity to five National Parks: Kornati Islands, Paklenica, Northern Mount Velebit (Sjeverni Velebit), Plitvice Lakes (Plitvička jezera) and Krka River (Slapovi Krke).
