Jane Brown fills in for Libby Znaimer on the May 17th, 2021 edition of Fight Back. She is joined by Ferg Devins, Chair and Survivor, Bladder Cancer Canada and Dr. Alexandre Zlotta, Director of Uro-Oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Professor in the Department of Surgery (Urology) at the University of Toronto and member of Bladder Cancer Canada’s Medical Research Board.

It’s Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. We talk about the backlog in surgeries amid COVID-19, and the signs and symptoms that are typically associated with the disease, which is the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada. As many as 12,000 Canadians are diagnosed with Bladder Cancer every year. Jane’s own mother passed away from it in 2012 and she shares the challenging experience of dealing with that. And, Dr. Zlotta details the latest research out there. We also heard from listeners who are or who know loved ones suffering from Bladder Cancer.
